Cycling holidays must include the National Byway route for the region which uses B roads and passes Keir Mill where the first bicycle was invented bicycle in 1839 by a local blacksmith, Kirkpatrick McMillan.

Drumlanrig Castle, North of Dumfries, is Scotland’s only museum dedicated to bicycles.
